Corporate events and functions
Corporate entertainment in Adelaide, with a big sound and a compact footprint
I'm Solly Fern, and I play live sets of 1 to 3 hours for corporate events and functions across Greater Adelaide, on guitar alone or guitar and piano.
You book 1 reliable, professional musician with a big, rich sound, playing songs from the 1950s to today chosen for your room and your guests.
I bring rugs, fairy lights and vines to dress my corner, so the function looks styled as soon as the doors open.
- Sets of 1 to 3 hours, from arrival drinks to the close
- Solo, on guitar alone or guitar and piano, in a compact set-up
- Background music, a feature set or both, shaped to your run sheet
- Songs from the 1950s to today, plus your team's requests
- Functions across Greater Adelaide, from the CBD to the Adelaide Hills

What you're booking
On my own, with a big, rich sound
You're booking an Adelaide folk pop singer-songwriter whose covers reach from the graduate intake's playlists back to the records the board grew up on.
I perform alone, on guitar or on guitar and piano, with a big, rich sound from a compact set-up.
That gives your run sheet 1 performer to brief, 1 name to pass to the venue, and a corner of the room in place of a stage.
The person who answers your enquiry is the person who plays, so the brief you send is the brief I play to.
Behind the set sit more than 10 years of performing and performance training in voice, guitar, piano, acting and theatre, across classical and rock.
I studied Classical Vocal Studies at the Elder Conservatorium.
You can read the story behind the music on my about page before you brief me.

Your run sheet
Background music, a feature set, or both
Tell me where live music sits on your run sheet, and I'll shape the set to each part of the event.
Your corporate function entertainment follows your timings, from the first arrivals to the last farewells.
Arrival music
Warm, familiar songs while guests collect a drink and find their colleagues, so the room already feels alive as the first people walk in.
Under the conversation
Through canapés and networking I keep the set relaxed and easy, so people can talk shop and still catch a song they love.
Around the speeches
Mark the welcome, the awards and the toasts on your run sheet, and I'll build the set around them so the room comes back up afterwards.
A feature set
When you'd like the room to turn and listen, I bring the bigger songs and your team's requests forward, on guitar and piano.
The visual set
Atmosphere before the first song
I bring a small piece of the folk world into the function room.
I roll out rugs to mark my space, wind fairy lights and vines around the keyboard and the mic stand, and dress for your occasion.
The corner glows before I play a note, so guests arrive to a room that already feels dressed for them.
For a planner, it works as instant styling: a focal point for arrivals, a warm backdrop for photos, and a sign to every guest that someone has thought about the event.
You can see the full set-up in the photo, taken on stage at The Jade.

It's not just background music, it brings an element of theatre and character and presence.
Where I've played
A convention centre family day, and a set for every age
I've played corporate functions alongside weddings and venue gigs, including a family day at a convention centre.
A family day brings every age into the same space, and that's where a span of songs from the 1950s to today earns its place.
I can reach back to Doris Day and The Monkees for the grandparents, and forward to Harry Styles and Chappell Roan for the teenagers.
Every set is tailored to the room, so I watch who's listening and move between rock 'n' roll, country, pop and classical as the crowd shifts.
If your function is at a winery or in the Hills, live music for venues and wineries shows how I play those rooms.
Songs for a mixed room
Songs the whole room knows
This slice of my sample covers list runs from the 1980s to now, the decades most of a working room grew up on.
Song requests are welcome, so send your team's favourites with your enquiry.
Every song on my sample list, back to the 1950s, is on my weddings page.

Questions
Questions about corporate event entertainment
How long can you play at a corporate event?
I play sets of 1 to 3 hours.
Send your run sheet with your enquiry and I'll fit the set around arrivals, the meal, the speeches and the close.
Can you play background music for a networking function?
Yes, I can play under the conversation through arrivals and mingling.
When you'd like the room to stop and listen, I bring a feature set forward, so you can have background music, a feature set or both.
What does your set-up look like?
It's compact: 1 musician, with guitar alone or guitar and piano, on rugs dressed with fairy lights and vines.
I bring my own PA, unless your venue supplies one, and my tech, Edward, sets up the sound and lighting.
All I need from the venue is a power outlet and a space at least 2.3 metres wide and 1.6 metres deep.
Do you take song requests from staff?
Yes, I take song requests.
Send your team's favourites with your enquiry, and tell me about your guests so I can tailor the rest of the set to them.
Have you played corporate events before?
Yes, I've played corporate functions as well as weddings and venue gigs.
I've also played a family day at a convention centre.
Why book live music for a function over a playlist?
Live music brings what I call an element of theatre, character and presence to a room.
I shape the set as the room fills, take your team's requests and dress my corner with rugs, fairy lights and vines, so the music is something guests see as well as hear.
Do you play corporate events outside the Adelaide CBD?
I play across Greater Adelaide, from the CBD, North Adelaide and Norwood to the Adelaide Hills and the wineries around them.
There's no extra charge for travel anywhere in the Greater Adelaide region, so include the suburb or the venue in your enquiry.
Do you carry public liability insurance for corporate venues?
Yes, I hold $30 million public liability insurance.
I can send the certificate of currency for your venue or event manager's records.
