Wedding singer in Adelaide, from the aisle to the evening light
I'm Solly Fern, an Adelaide folk singer who plays your wedding live, from the ceremony and the signing through drinks and into the reception.
Before the day, I show you how your songs will sound stripped back, check the lyrics suit the occasion and shape each song for the ceremony.
I play sets of 1 to 3 hours on guitar, or guitar and piano, in a corner I dress with rugs, fairy lights and vines.

Wedding music in Adelaide
A solo acoustic wedding singer with a big, rich sound
I'm a guitarist, pianist and vocalist, and I play every wedding myself, so your wedding musician is the person who reads your first message and plays your last song.
My set-up is compact, guitar alone or guitar and piano, and the sound is big and rich, shaped by more than 10 years of performing and performance training.
I studied Classical Vocal Studies at the Elder Conservatorium, and I've trained in voice, guitar, piano, acting and theatre, across classical and rock.
In a ceremony, the classical training carries the quiet songs; at the reception, the theatre and the rock come out to play.
I've written songs since my teens, so I listen to a love song the way its writer might, words first.
I play weddings across Greater Adelaide, from North Adelaide, Norwood and the CBD up into the Hills at Hahndorf, Stirling and Lobethal, and out to the wineries.
The longer version, from busking and a beat-up van to my debut EP, is my story on the about page.

Your wedding day
Live music for your wedding, from the aisle to the reception
My sets run from 1 to 3 hours, so you can book me for the ceremony alone, or keep the music going through the signing and drinks and into the reception.
Tell me the run of your day, and I'll shape the set around it.
The ceremony
Something gentle as your guests find their seats, then your walk down the aisle on a song you chose and I've shaped to fit it.
The signing
While you sign the register, I keep the hush warm with something soft and familiar, so the pause feels like part of the ceremony.
Drinks and canapés
While you're off having photos, I keep your guests company with songs from Doris Day to Fleetwood Mac, played to suit the garden or the room.
The reception
As the evening settles in, the set lifts with your requests and the songs your guests know every word of, tailored to the room.
Your ceremony songs
How I shape your ceremony songs
As the singer for your wedding ceremony, I go through your songs with you in 4 steps, well before the day.
I've written the whole process up in how to choose your wedding ceremony songs, with examples from my own list.
- 1
Hear them stripped back
A song you love on the radio has a whole band behind it, so I show you how it'll sound on guitar alone, or on guitar and piano, before you settle on it.
- 2
A gentle lyric check
I read through every lyric with your ceremony in mind and flag any line that may not suit the occasion, so each word sits as happily with your nan as it does with you.
- 3
Shaped for its place
I adjust each song so it works for the ceremony, fitting it to the walk down the aisle, the signing or the walk back out as newlyweds.
- 4
A playlist of suggestions
If you're torn between favourites, or starting from a blank page, I'll put together a playlist of suggestions for you to listen through together.
It's not just background music, it brings an element of theatre and character and presence.
The visual set
A corner of your day, dressed for the occasion
I mark out my space with rugs, wind fairy lights and vines around the keyboard and the mic stand, and I dress for the occasion.
At a wedding, the corner I play from joins your flowers and your tables as part of the styling.
These photos are from my Into Halves EP launch at The Jade in July 2026, so you can see the rugs, lights and vines as they really look.
Sample song list
Wedding songs from the 1950s to today
This is a sample of my covers list, across rock 'n' roll, country and pop, from Doris Day and Elvis Presley to Noah Kahan and Chappell Roan.
For the aisle, the gentler songs, like Can't Help Falling in Love, Make You Feel My Love, The Rose and Perfect, sit softly on guitar or piano.
For drinks, Put Your Records On, Budapest, Dreams and Big Yellow Taxi keep the garden easy, and the reception lifts with Valerie, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Build Me Up Buttercup and Mamma Mia.
It's a sample, and song requests are welcome, so send me your songs with your wedding enquiry.

Why live
Live wedding entertainment in Adelaide that follows your day
I tailor every set to the room in front of me, so the music moves with your guests as the day unfolds.
On the walk down the aisle, you hear the arrangement I've shaped for your ceremony, played live and paced to your steps.
During drinks, I choose from my list to suit the garden or the room, and your guests' requests find their way into the set.
Your guests also get a singer to watch, in a corner dressed with rugs, fairy lights and vines, wearing an outfit chosen for your day.
For a smaller room or a garden corner, guitar alone keeps my footprint compact, and if you tell me about the space when you enquire, I'll plan my set-up around it.
Away from weddings, I write and release my own contemporary folk, and you can hear Into Halves and my original show, launched live at The Jade in July 2026.

Questions
Before you book your wedding singer
Do you perform at weddings in Adelaide?
Yes, I sing at weddings across Greater Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and the wineries around them.
I play the ceremony, the signing of the register, drinks and the reception, on guitar alone or on guitar and piano.
Can you sing for the ceremony only?
Yes, my sets run from 1 to 3 hours, so you can book me for the ceremony alone or for a longer run from the ceremony into the reception.
Tell me the run of your day when you enquire, and I'll suggest how to fit the hours to it.
Do you take song requests?
Yes, I take song requests for the ceremony, drinks and the reception.
Send me your ceremony songs, and I'll show you how each one sounds stripped back before the day.
The list on this page is a sample of my covers, so your songs are welcome alongside it.
How long can you perform for?
I play sets of 1 to 3 hours.
That covers a ceremony on its own, or a longer run through the signing and drinks and on into the reception.
Can you suggest songs for the ceremony?
Yes, if you're torn or starting from scratch, I'll put together a playlist of suggestions for you to listen through.
From there, I show you how your favourites sound stripped back, check the lyrics suit the occasion and adjust each song for the ceremony.
What instruments do you play at weddings?
I sing and play guitar, or guitar and piano, from a compact set-up.
Guitar alone suits an intimate ceremony, and adding piano gives the reception a fuller sound.
I bring my own PA, unless your venue supplies one, and all I need is a power outlet and a space at least 2.3 metres wide and 1.6 metres deep.
What does a live singer add over a playlist?
I tailor the set to the room as your day unfolds, and fold your guests' requests into it as they come.
Your ceremony songs are arranged for you, and the corner I play from is dressed with rugs, fairy lights and vines.
Your guests get music they can watch as well as hear.
Do you play weddings in the Adelaide Hills and at wineries?
Yes, I play across the Adelaide Hills, including Hahndorf, Stirling and Lobethal, and at wineries across the Greater Adelaide region.
There's no extra charge for travel anywhere in the Greater Adelaide region, and if your wedding is further out, include the suburb or venue when you enquire.
I hold $30 million public liability insurance, and I can send the certificate of currency to your venue.
